Carolina Sawney MSc

Carolina started Ateneo 21 in 2006 to offer quality Spanish courses that enable learners to improve their ability to communicate and gain an insight into the culture and society of the Spanish speaking countries in the international context.

She is an experienced Spanish tutor who has developed a hands on practical approach that optimise the student’s progress and ensure they enjoy the process. She is continually developing new teaching material for use in class and always looking for new approaches that include a variety of media. She created a programme called Spanish for Current Affairs.

Carolina has also organized film screenings and visits by Latin American directors in cinemas in the West End as part of the III Discovering Latin America Film Festival. She has also produced gigs with the Association of Argentine Professionals in the United Kingdom (APARU) ensuring they were a complete success.



She graduated with a masters in International Politics from the University of London and a degree in Media Studies in Buenos Aires. She also completed the International House Certificates in Spanish and English Language Teaching to Adults.

Before setting up Ateneo 21, Carolina had 4 years teaching experience at university (National University of Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires) and secondary school level in Argentina. She has also worked as a translator in London.
